How to Make Vampire Bite Cupcakes

Still don't know what to give trick or treaters this Halloween? Whip up something easy and simple like this vampire bite cupcake.
What we need:
Cupcakes (Of course!)
Buttercream/Icing
Writing Gel (Red)

Here's How:
1. Using a large round tip, pipe buttercream onto the cupcake.
I got this writing gel from Cooks Exchange in Glorietta. Perfect for Halloween.
 2. Using the writing gel, pipe the vampire bite. Pipe them like how you would write a comma ","
See? Super simple isn't it? :) So what will you be this Halloween?

Prepare to Get Slimed! [Slimer Cupcakes]

I'm probably dating myself, but I have always looked forward to watching Ghostbusters every Friday, 7PM on Channel 2. If you are an 80's kid, you'd probably know what I'm talking about. I love Fridays because of this. Free Witch, Baywatch, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles included of course.

One of my Halloween posts this year is a tribute to Ghostbusters. So Bake Happy readers...
Yup, Slimer cupcakes! It can not possibly get slimier than that.

Depending on what version you may have watched, Slimer would sometimes look scary, other versions creepy while some versions cute. I chose to make him cute for this post. HBO, Star Movies and all those movie channels have done a good job of scaring us by showing horror movies this time of the year. I choose my Slimers to be cute.
While preparing the cupcakes, I placed the "Slimers" I made in their dressing rooms (ie cupcake pan) first. They seem to be excited waiting for their close-up.

I baked the cupcakes first then transferred them to the party nut cups.
Then I added a layer of green frosting.
Slimer cupcakes will not be complete without ... well... slime of course. So how do we make a non-gory version of slime? Tint piping gel with electric green gel color.
Place a dollop on top of each cupcake
Spread it unevenly with an offset spatula.
And place the stars of this year's Halloween on top.

Hey Slimers! Are you ready for your close up?
Of course they are!!!

Happy Halloween guys!!

How to Make Brain Cupcakes (or Brainiac Cupcakes)

It's October.
So it's just about right that I do a tutorial on a Halloween inspired cupcakes.

First up - Brain Cupcakes. Hmmmm brain cupcakes sound... well they sound scary, gory, and totally something that you won't probably eat in a million years even if I give you one million dollars. Especially if you have a sensitive stomach like I do.

So I thought of putting some "handmade" googly eyes and viola! They don't look scary anymore right? Good enough to eat?

What we need:

Cupcakes (Of course!)
White folder plus red and black marker if you want to make the googly eyes
Ice Cream scoop
Medium sized round tip
Buttercream (Copper / Flesh tone color)

Here's How:
First I cut circles from the folders and drew the eyes. I used the red marker for the lips. For girl braniacs, make sure to draw eyelashes.

Place a scoop of buttercream on top of the cupcakes. Note that the size of the scoop depends on whether you're making regular sized cupcakes or mini cuppies.
Here's a close-up of a soon to be Braniac

Using a piping bag with a #7 round tip, pipe squiggly lines in one side, then do the other. Make sure that the division in the center is visible. After all, the brain has two spheres.
Sometimes, one layer of squiggly lines in not enough, so you may do another layer to ... you know... make it brain-like.
When I look at these Brainiac Cupcakes, I can picture a story.
Here are Daddy and Mommy Braniac.
One day, their heads just hurt and out came their little brainiacs. Okay, so that's sooo not original. If you are familiar with Greek Mythology, that's how Athena (the Goddess of Wisdom) came to be.
Oh well, here's a family picture..
